There is no one in the world that can encourage a child like their Mama’s.
As we have seen on many competitive shows such as American Idol, where truly the contestant lacks the talent and is told so by the judges. But as the camera pans over to the contestants Mother she is furious, and can’t figure out why the judges could not see that her child was not the next Whitney Houston or Justin Timberlake! Are all these Mothers or Fathers tone deft or blind to the fact that their child is not the next big thing?
Many of us did not have or forgot what if felt like in having an encourager in our lives. For some of us, making that home run, or acing that test was like having a grand parade. An Encourager can be anyone that plants supportive words in your soil, which gives that added nourishment to help you grow; the person maybe a Parent, Grand Parent, Sibling, Friend or Spouse, who ever give you that feeling of invincibility. Yes, they believe in your dream and will do what ever to help you achieve it.
Issue: What about you?
Are you doing you part to encourage your self? Do you always have to have someone’s approval before starting a project or completing a goal? There are many instances where parents have encouraged their children to succeed in areas where they have lacked in their own lives. How often have you taken the time to encourage someone else to do something, where you are lacking in your own life? The old adage of do what I say not what I do, no longer works with the new generation. Is there a child or person in your life that you either push very hard or mentor to be their best? If so you must remember they have a clear view of what you are doing in yours.
Example: Has your Mother ever told you to make your bed before you leave your home in the morning? But the strange thing was you never saw her make up hers!! Have you ragged on your child or someone else’s about doing home work, but they never see you reading a book?
Solutions:
Learn to encourage your self, be an example by living your dreams. Be like the Mama that believes in her child. If you don’t have an encourager in your life, then be your own!! Write down your goals and believe in them, take small steps each day toward your goals.
It makes no difference what those dreams or thoughts are, if they are important to you then pursue it. Watch what you ask or demand of others, if able, be ready to be a challenge to your self and the one you are encouraging, practice what you preach, regardless if you realize it, you are always being watched.
