Respect The Storms!!

Staying Focused On The Sun, Through the Storm!!

Living in Houston we all know that, there is a tendency to attract some bad storms, especially during Hurricane season. Sometimes it can be a bit frightening even for the bravest. The lighting is striking, the thunder is roaring and the wind is blowing. If your heritage come from a family from down south, that means that all electrical appliances are turned off. My Mother was recently in town visiting from Louisiana and I was reminded of the old saying “Take cover in the storm”. A strong bolt of lighting and thunder clap came down one rainy evening while she and I were watching Television. I was on my cell phone and gabbing with her at the same time, when after the storm introduced it self she immediately turned the Television off and demanded that I get off the phone. I was stunned; I though what in the world that is such a wise tale talking. But, then she responded by saying you need to “learn to respect a storm!!”

Example:

We often take storms for granted, some of us that have been in heavy storms and made it through, knowing to prepare for the next time. Others see storms as things that come and go and if they are not affected directly, feel it’s just a part of nature doing her thing. The question is “how do we make it through our storms and learn to respect it?” Tears are like rain it comes and goes by the amount of pressure that is building. The sound of your voice yelling, arguing or fighting against anything is like the lighting and thunder. So here we stand in a storm, do we continue to ignore it or do we stop and turn everything off and respect the storm. Many time we miss the lessons of a storm, or the meaning of why there is a storm happening to begin with. this occurs because we over look the process. Our Elders seem to know how to predict storms, our Grandparents would say (Storm coming) they could smell it in the air or their body could feel it coming through their bones.

Solution:
Respect the storms in your life! Prepare for them, have you a storm survival kit!

1. Keep your mind stored up with positive thoughts, for when you need non-perishable faith.

2. Fill up your soul with the waters of peace, love and understanding, because the storm may cause a drought. It’s good to have it in reserve.

3. Understand that you may not have contact with others during the storm, the phone, lights and communication equipment may not work, so have some good words and motivational things in place to keep your mind in tact.

4. Don’t look directly at the storm, but focus on the creator and what you are trying to accomplish ( health, job, love, house, money, faith, joy, peace)

Understand that sometimes a storm is needed to cleanse a situation and make movement come to get you where you need to be. So as my Mother would say “Learn to Respect Your Storms”
