Enjoying my (Some-thing-ish) Birthday lol, this weekend lead me to ponder on the thought of, what have I accomplished to get me to this age in my life? Does each milestone inch us closer to what we call bliss or does our dreams fade away with our youth? Watching one of my favorite movies, “Last Holiday” starring Queen Latifa and the very fine LL brought me to the question of “What if this was my Last Holiday?” What would I do? The movie is very precious its about the life of a simple black working woman that often dream of the good life and having the love and happiness she wants. This woman as plain as she might have looked had so many talents inside of her, but they were all tucked away in what she called her possibility book; to us it would be our vision board or book.
She bumps her head at work and is taken to the Dr. to then be told that she has an incurable disease and only had a short time to live. Hearing this shocking news she decided to quit her dead in job, and pull out all her money from the bank even the bonds her dead mother left her, and start living the last few days she had to the fullest. Well if you saw the movie then you know she was misdiagnosed, she got her man, she got her spirit back and she got a life and all turned out excellent!!
Would it take a life threatening situation to cause you to look at the life you are living and make different choices? Life is what you make it, so if you are bored and unhappy it’s because you are boring and unhappy!! We all have choices to make, and no action or movement toward a goal means no movement at all. I can stand here and blame everything under the sun for my mishaps and misfortune, but what we all know is that we can always do different or better.
So your spouse is a jerk, or this is your second or third divorce. What if you had to file bankruptcy or financially destitute, so what? Life does not stop because we make bad choices. Yes, we have some repercussions for the bad choices we make, but we also have some celebrations for what we consider good!!
Figure out what you want and listen to your self, we talk and listen to everyone else, but we miss the words we are saying to others, that we need to be saying to our selves. Ask for what you need, you would be surprise what would happen if you just opened your heart and mouth and spoke up!! Be positive when you speak! Don’t say they wont let me or I can’t” because you really can!! The Character in the movie, commanded everyone’s attention, not because she was trying, but because she did not care, she felt her life was ending and she was on her own agenda! When you don’t care about what others think or say aboutyou, you become more in tune with your self, and your needs. So let’s live everyday like it’s our last holiday, and turn that possibility in to a reality!!
Love, Peace N Much Respect!
