Are You Doing What Really Need to Be Done?

Today was an eye opening day, the epiphany came when I arrived at work this morning. My Co-workers were all standing out side the building. I thought maybe there was an early fire drill or something happening with the building. As I approached one of my Co-workers they informed me that the power was out on some floors and that the elevators were not working and the building Manager did not want us walking up 6 or 7 flights of stairs in the dark. I thought to myself ok, go with the flow so, a few of us went next door to the small deli that we often frequent until some type of repair was made for us to go in to the building. Well an hour and a half had passed and they were able to get power on the top two floors which is 6 and 7. Naturally 6 was my floor, but the only catch was that we had to take the stairs, lighted by security officers with flash lights to guides us, because the elevators were still not working properly.

Well, here I am with my laptop bag, lunch bag and my purse, I am thinking to myself do I really want to go to work that bad that I would walk up 6 flights of stairs. (Stop Laughing!)Then I thought oh… I have been working out for the past two weeks, doing 3 -4 miles on my treadmill. I felt confident that I could get up those stairs with out much problems, besides, I was in the presence of my Co-workers who did not hesitate taking the stairs so I was not about to be left behind as the unfit whiner. LOL.

I walked pretty gracefully up the first three flights, but something happen as I approached the fourth flight, my breathing got heavy and my legs all of sudden got tired. I started to drag by this time, and thought to myself “why is this so hard?” I work out every darn day; I should be conditioned to be able to do this. As I walked up to five I was most faint, huffing and puffing like I was a smoker!! Then it dawned on me I am conditioned for walking, but the change of the incline was different, this was something different that my body was not use to. I actually got a better work out going up those flight of stairs in a short time, then the 90 mins it take me to walk 3 miles on the treadmill! By the time I got to my office, I was aware that we often are doing things in our routine that we think are effective in our lives or are of some type of sacrifice to find out later that if we tried something different or new we just might get better results faster then following the same routine!

You may get up ever morning do your affirmations, and pray the same prayer, do the same work out routine, only to get the same results every day. Sometimes we need a jolt of something different. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expects to receive something different to happen from that action. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with routine, if you buy a lottery ticket every Friday, you are telling the Universe that yes! I want to win. But maybe a change in your routine would stimulate some energy in to your situation. Maybe if you switched up and played on Friday, it might send a message to Universe that I am changing my energy around and I am ready for something different! Hahahahahaha!
Love Peace N Much Respect!
