How Did I Get Here?

How did I get here?

It was a busy afternoon yesterday and I had been knocking out all the items on my list for the day. I had one appointment scheduled right before I was free to head home. I arrived for my appointment on time and was right on schedule. Don’t you love those days? “When you seem the most productive and things just seem to flow.” Well I was doing it yesterday “So to speak” pulled in to the parking garage, feeling a bit smug about taking care of my business. I got out of my car with my purse, keys, folder and cell phone in hand, all ready to complete the last task on my daily list. I was really focused on the time, and the meeting I was about to go into.

When all of a sudden, the next thing I knew. “I was mid air like Kobe Bryant flying trying to make that last hoop!” My purse went one way, keys and cell phone the other. I then realized that I was lying on the concrete floor in the parking garage. Wow! I was a bit dazed and confused as to what just happen. As I slowly shook the impact off, I was reduced to the likes of a four year old that just scraped her knee. I wanted to cry, but that would not have been cool, considering I am always giving my eight year old daughter the “Don’t cry, you’re going to be ok speech!” So I had to gather my self and take the responsibility that I had fallen all on my own accord. My first thought was someone must have attacked me from the back, but there was no one in sight. Then I thought maybe my heel broke on my shoe causing me to fall, but that was not the case! I began to expect all my parts and everything was still intact, just disheveled from the fall. I had totally tripped over a concrete parking placement median, which was right there big as day!

I say all this (not) to make you laugh, (although very funny), or invite you to the comical styles of Gia! But to remind you that on our journey there may be stumbling blocks that knock the wind out of us, or bring us face down in prayer. See, I was so focused on getting there, that I forgot to check out my surroundings before I proceeded. When things happen to us, we often blame other people for causing it or promoting it. For some of us, what happens to us is never our fault or issue, but we perceive that it is that of others, which have caused us our current fate. So, feelings being a little hurt and yet a little embarrassed, I realized that I alone was in my own way.

Sometimes these falls or accidents are provided to strengthen us, and if not severe, it could cause us to slow down and pay attention to what we are doing. Don’t’ be so in a hurry to get where you are going, the rush, can and will make you miss the whole journey. As I always say God has such a sense of humor, for me the spirit finds creative ways to get my attention. Others maybe it’s an unexpected bill, the lost of a job or spouse. How ever your awakening comes, don’t be so quick to think it’s an attack. It could be that you need to spend some time looking up or at what’s around you! So, I suffer the pains of not taking the time to pay attention, but gained the insight of the message.

Love, Respect & Peace
Gia
